2025 Reading List

Check back as I update this reading list often! Just about every week, I add new books I’ve accepted for review or titles I can’t resist, as well as a few backlist titles squeezed in where I can. I also update the list to include links to my reviews as they go live.

This list includes some backlist titles that I’ve read recently and plan to post reviews for this year.

For the last few years, I’ve been breaking my reading list down into categories. Click one of the headings below to go directly to my reading list in that category.

Read Harder 2024 Reading Challenge by Book Riot

Book Riot’s 2024 Read Harder Challenge

Some of these middle grade books were published during the early days of Covid, when authors canceled book signings, school visits, and other bookish events. A few of these underhyped middle grade titles are from the ancient days before the pandemic changed life as we knew it. Others were published more recently– perhaps a victim of Barnes & Noble’s switch to carrying mostly paperbacks? I’m not sure what the deal is, but I am sure these books deserve more attention … Continue reading

About Candidly Cline

A must-read for fans of Julie Murphy and Ashley Herring Blake, this queer coming-of-age story from critically acclaimed author Kathryn Ormsbee sings with heart, warmth, and hope.

Born in Paris, Kentucky, and raised on her gram’s favorite country music, Cline Alden is a girl with big dreams and a heart full of song. When she finds out about a young musicians’ workshop a few towns over, Cline sweet-talks, saves, and maybe fibs her way into her first step toward musical stardom.

But her big dreams never prepared her for the butterflies she feels surrounded by so many … Continue reading
